I am linking another blog post about the value of memorizing scripture - read it here. This guy is a bit edgier with his approach but is he very passionate about memorizing scripture! I found this part to be especially convicting.
Wisdom
Since the Word is a “lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105
), it contains the precepts for wise living and is capable of directing one’s decisions. People make decisions every day, often with little time to contemplate various choices. The Word in one’s heart can be used by God to more easily direct those decisions so he does not lean on his own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6
)
I often pray for wisdom and as I read that paragraph, it was a great reminder that I have a book of wisdom always available to me. How helpful it will be to have more of it stored in my mind and heart!
Here's my 13th verse. I've decided to memorize Psalm 121.
Julie, "I lift my eyes towards the mountains. Where will my help come from?" Psalms 121:1 HCSB
Now it's your turn. See you on September 15.

ReplyDeleteThe Lord is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid? When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me even then I will be confident. Psalm 27:1-3 NIV
