Sisters in Scripture Verse Two

Welcome back!  It's the 15th of the month so you know what that means. . . time to post your second verse!  Before I post mine, I thought it might be helpful to share more tips on memorizing scripture.  This article also has some great information on resources available to help with the process.  Read the article here.

Let's quickly review how you participate in this challenge:

1. Choose your Scripture to memorize.  If you're struggling with this, feel free to choose one from the verses posted by your Sisters in Scripture in the "comments" section of the March 1st post.

2. Go to the green bar at the bottom of this post and click on "comments."  A box should appear for you to write you verse in and then, click the blue "Publish" button.

3. You must comment from a computer as the blog does not currently accept comments from any mobile device, including tablets.  If you don't have access to a computer, email me your verse and I'd happy to post it for you.

If you are new to the blog and would like to be a part of this challenge, you'll need to post two verses in March to keep up with the commitment to memorize 20 verses in 2014.  So, all you need to do is go back to the March 1st post titled, "Sisters in Scripture Verse One" and add your first verse to the "comments" section there.  Then, add your second verse to the "comments" section at the end of this post.  We would recommend choosing two shorter verses for this month if you are just joining us.

Sisters, please know that we are praying for you to be successful at this.  We do not take your commitment lightly and we stand beside you in prayer trusting God to keep us strong in this endeavor.  There is power in God's Word and the more we have of it in our hearts and minds, the easier it will be to access that power when we need it.  And, we do need it!

Okay, here's my second verse:

Julie, "You are My witnesses," declares the Lord, "And My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He.  Before Me there was no God formed, and there will be none after Me." Isaiah 43:10 NASB

I love this verse and I'm excited to commit it to memory.  Isn't it a comfort to know that there is only one true God, and it is Him and only Him that is in control of everything?  There is nothing like the power of God!

Okay Sisters, it's your turn.  Share your Scripture and get busy memorizing!  See you again on April 1.

Sisters in Scripture Verse One

Welcome Sisters!  We are so glad you’re here.  Let’s get this challenge started.

There are many wonderful resources on the web that provide encouragement and also solid advice for memorizing scripture.  Before I share my verse, I want to offer two different posts that I hope you’ll find helpful.

The first is list of six tips from someone who participated in Beth Moore’s scripture memorization last year.  Read it here.

The second is a rather lengthy interview with Janet Pope on the Revive our Hearts website.  While it is long, it is well worth your time.  This inspirational woman found a way to incorporate scripture memorization into her busy life in practical ways.  Read about Janet here.

Okay, here we go.  I’ll share my first verse and how I chose it.  Last year, I participated in Beth Moore’s Bible study on the Book of James.  Beth challenged each person in the study to consider memorizing the entire book - all five chapters.  I only got as far as verse seven in the second chapter.  I’ve decided to pick back up where I stopped and begin our 2014 challenge there.  So, here’s my entry:

Julie Boynton, “If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.” James 2:8 NIV

Now, it’s your turn.  Please post your name, verse, and translation by clicking on "Comments" below in the green bar at the end of this post.  Then, start memorizing.

Check back periodically for updates and to read the verses your fellow Sisters are meditating on.  What a source of inspiration that will be!

I’ll see you back here on March 15th  for our second verse.

Ladies, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder as Sisters who hope to saturate our lives with the living Word of God.  May God bless you and your commitment to seek Him through His Word.
