Sisters in Scripture Verse Fourteen

God is good! I have a testimony from one of the Sisters in Scripture that I am so excited to share with you about how God is using this memorization challenge to touch other people's lives. This is from Nancy B. and I hope this encourages you, as it did me, to keep working on those verses!

"I do want to share how Sisters in Scripture has been an incredible blessing in my life.  I always have had a few "go to" scriptures that helped me in personal struggles and even had little prayer cards in my purse to access.  I would occasionally give copies of those cards to family, friends, or clients (in my work as a psychotherapist) when the scripture seemed applicable to their struggles.

With our Sisters in Scripture practice, I feel God has led me to the scriptures I need to rely on now and that will be a blessing to others in my life.

I do know that God is source of all my earthly work, but with the new scriptures, I feel that God has led me to share, more frequently, directly from his word, especially with my therapy clients. I do not work for an organization that directly offers Christian based counseling but God quickly shows me which are Christians and/or which are open to faith-based supports - and that sure makes my work easier knowing what foundation they are working from.

My practice with the scripture verses is to keep a running Word document that I add each verse to and print out several copies.  I keep a copy or two in my purse and others elsewhere to help with memorization. However, I have been freely giving these away to my clients in certain situations when a verse is just what was needed.  For example, I had one client struggle with resentments toward an individual and planned to approach them in anger.  We looked at Peter 3: 9-10 about "do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult ..."  She immediately felt a great sense of peace about the situation and planned to stay quiet or approach the individual with love and compassion.  Over the phone I was able to support one client, through God's word, "Wait for The Lord, be strong and take heart and wait for The Lord." (Psalm 27:14)  Several clients expressed a desire to strengthen their daily spirituality and connection to their faith and I suggested memorization of Bible verses and gave them copies of my list as a starter. One young man has it posted on his computer at work!  How awesome is that!"

If you have a testimony you'd like to share, email it to me and I would be happy to post it. It's a blessing to read of how God is working in all of our lives.

My 14th verse (wow!)

Julie, "My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth."  Psalm 121:2 HCSB

See you back here on October 1st!

  4. One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Psalm 27:4-5 NIV
