Sisters in Scripture Verse Twelve
Hello Sisters. What a beautiful morning...even though it was pretty chilly for this wimpy girl when I first woke up. Tonight is supposed to be even colder - a low of 47. Fall is coming but we still have plenty sunshine to enjoy in these last few weeks of summer.
I read this article recently on the benefits of memorizing passages rather than individual Scriptures. It's given me something to consider going forward. Maybe for next year's challenge, instead of 20 or 24 verses in 2015, we'll aim for memorizing five of the Psalms, or chapters 1, 8 and 12 in Romans, or something similar to that. What do you think? I'd love your feedback. Please include your comments at the end of your post after your verse.
My verse #12:
Julie, "For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to ruin." Psalms 1:6 HCSB
See you back here on September 1. Stay strong with this challenge - you're doing great!
Julie, "For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to ruin." HCSB
ReplyDeleteNancy Belz, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:32 (ESV)
ReplyDeleteJulie, Your comments today answered my prayers on what to memorize this second half of August, Psalm 23 just 'popped' in my mind but I kept telling myself it was too many verses. I can't do it. But..It will be Psalm 23. Obviously I never memorized it as a child and the verses are on my bathroom mirror for over a year now (most often seen and read but sometimes not even caught in my vision) but still never committed to memory. So over the next two weeks I will commit this Psalm to memory.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the push.
May the SONshine bright on your day,
Celia
You go Girl :)
Delete"The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17 NIV
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of memorizing passages of scripture. I think doing 4-8 verses or a train of thought from a chapter is good, but taking a whole chapter a little at a time would work.
Thanks for your feedback, Sue!

ReplyDeleteThanks for your feedback, Noriene! Good points to consider.
